Suzdal has been a major centre of Russian cultural and political life since ancient times, now it is truly one of the most popular tourist destinations. Especially for people who want to learn more about rural Russia with her churches, villages, potato fields and forests. We won't be spending a lot of time traveling from one place to another, so you'll have plenty of time to enjoy this region.
Programme
Unique experience, day by day
Day 1: Departing from Moscow
We begin our trip late morning and after making stops in Pereslavl-Zalesskiy – ancient Russian town and a birthplace of the Russian Navy, and Yuryev-Polski – another ancient town with Kremlin and beautiful St. George Cathedral – we arrive in our village guest house.
Day 2: Country life experience, the New Year's preparations and the Party Night
The day of December 31 will be traditionally dedicated to preparing the New Year's feast. Meanwhile, you'll have an opportunity to learn how to cook Russian pies, learn the proper recipe of the famous Russian salad (which we call "Olivier") and have some time to enjoy the village. We'll raise a glass to the New Year and we'll do it the Russian way! You'll learn a lot about our traditions and we'll have a great party!
Day 3: Tour of Suzdal and New Year's festival
Very unlikely that we'll have an early start in the morning but our plan is to spend enough time in Suzdal to learn and see as much as possible. On the road, we'll hear stories why there are so many monasteries and churches and how Suzdal got so lucky to preserve most of its heritage, which dates back to XII-XIII centuries (including the 1222 golden gates made of real gold). New Year's celebrations will be all over the city so you'll be able to enjoy the atmosphere. We'll have a chance to try traditional local drinks: light medovukha (honey beer) and khrenovukha (spirit made with horseraddish).
Day 4: Vladimir and an amazing Pokrov church
The last day of our trip will be full of new emotions as well, because we'll spend it in one of the most significant Russian landmarks, which is the Pokrov Church on the Nerl River. After taking a few breathtaking photos of the church, we'll then travel to the regional capital, which has some interesting places to see as well (including the XIII century Assumption church, one of the all-Russia oldest). After a pub farewell dinner, we'll hop on a fast train back to Moscow and in less than two hours return back to our capital city.
